Myths and Fantasies

The main characters in myths are usually gods, special heroes, and men. A myth is usually regarded as a true account of the remote past, where as the identifying traits of fantasy are the inclusion of fantastic elements in a self-coherent setting, where inspiration from mythology and folklore remains a consistent theme.

At some point someone made up those myths and fantasies and others were expected to believe in them. I prefer to make up my own. Large chickens herding tiny cows, a scene based on Nicolas Poussin’s “Rape of the Sabine Women”; a large floating rock populated with modern humans and ancient Egyptian monuments; these are worlds I ask others to accept as real.
